     Have you ever experienced an earthquake? Ground shaking, buildings swaying, debris falling?           The state of Oregon sits nicely on the Juan De Fuca Faultline. A massive, 1,000-kilometer-long subduction zone running from Washington, through Oregon, and into Northern California, before breaking and continuing into the San Andreas Fault.      For years now, residents of Oregon have talked about “The Big One.” A massive earthquake tsunami combo that is set to go off at any moment just off the coast of Oregon! Interview with LBCC Athletic Director Mark Majeski

       Mark Majeski has been the director of athletics for Linn-Benton Community College since 2018. Before that, he was the director of athletics for Willamette University from 2000-2011 and for UC – Santa Cruz from 1995-2000, where he also worked as head coach for the women's basketball team.  Majeski is a member of the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics, and the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators, and serves on the advisory board for University of Washington Intercollegiate Athletic Leadership master’s degree program.  In 2011 he founded Majeski Athletic Consulting to work with small colleges and universities in a variety of capacities. Majeski was chair of the Division III Membership Committee for the National Collegiate Athletic Association, chaired the Division III West Region Men’s Tennis Committee, and was a member of the Division III Working Group on Membership Issues. Roadrunner baseball, a legacy of success

  The LBCC baseball program dates back to 1970 with first head coach Dick McClain, who boasted a winning record of 181 to 80 and an even better conference record of 74 and 6.  McClain’s teams won the Oregon Community College Athletics Association  championships five out of six times they qualified. Today's LBCC Roadrunners are likewise enjoying a winning record, currently 10-2, with about 30 more games to go. This year’s Roadrunners are aiming for another shot at the NWAC championship. Linn-Benton’s baseball team has not had a losing record since the 2013-14 season, over a decade ago and even then it was under a new head coach who went on to have three winning seasons.  The Northwest Athletic Conference is made up of 37 community college athletic programs in the Pacific Northwest. Student Stats at Linn Benton

  Ever wonder who your fellow LBCC students are? Photo is taken from LBCCs own Instagram page https://www.instagram.com/linnbentoncommunitycollege/ Linn-Benton Community College is tucked into the farming lands of Albany with a staff and faculty-to-student ratio of 15-to-1 and a total of 7,881 enrolled students as of fall term 2025, according to LBCCs Data Center, that can be found on the schools website. Going by this database, LBCC reflects a diverse number of students of all ages, ethnicities and backgrounds. At LBCC, 52% of students are 19 or younger and make up a majority of the student body; 43% of students are 25 or older. These statistics are tracked and calculated by Justin Smith with LBCC’s Institutional Effectiveness office. This data is similar to the transfer rate of students to other educational institutions, with 44% of LBCC students transferring to another school. About me: My name is Nathan and this is my 3rd attempt at going to school. I've never thought that getting a higher education was for me, but my friends and family have helped me see that I can do some impossible things I enroll in the course because I want to be a sports reporter for the NFL but I have no experience in that department. I am a journalism major for the most part. I'm most interested in learning the process of writing a story. Talking to sources and get down the facts or details of the story you are trying to find. I am passionate about gaming and football. I have been an active gamer since I was roughly 6 years old, and have played and watched football even earlier. Both passions I derived from my late father.
